The Seed Box, CSM’s free seed library, is a resource for CSM students, staff, faculty, and community members who are interested in growing their own plants. We aim to provide seeds to grow fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers, and native plants, including flowers, grasses, shrubs, and trees. The Seed Box is run completely on donated seeds from local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and individuals.
Patrons can use the seed library once per season:
The Seed Library will be closed for one month between seasons (February, May, August, November), for restocking.
To be able to provide a consistent supply of seeds to the community, we limit the number of seed packets a customer can take at one time.
Grab an order form at the La Plata Campus Library and check off the seeds you’d like to plant in your garden. Check the sign for which seeds are currently available and consult the Seed Information Binder if you want to see specifics about any of the plants.
Bring your completed order form up to the circulation desk, and a staff member will retrieve the requested seed packets.
Take your seeds home and plant them! The QR code on your seed packet will take you to our website, where you can view the Growing Guide and other gardening resources that will help you create happy heathy plants.
