CSE (Council of Science Editors) Style is a writing and citation style commonly used in physical and life sciences. CSE’s manual is currently on the 8th edition.

Scientific Style and Format: the CSE manual for authors, editors and publishers by Name-Year system includes information in this order: Author Names, Year of publication, Title, all other items
Citation-Sequence and Citation-Name systems include information in this order: Author Names, Title, all other items (including year of publication)

Write each author's last name followed by first (and middle) initials. Do not use a comma between parts of one author's name. Do not use periods or spaces between one author's initials. Example: Smith JA
For multiple authors, list up to 10 names. If there are more than 10 authors, list the first 10 followed by "and others". Example: Smith JA, Robins M, Lu CH.
For periodicals (journals, newspapers, magazines), capitalize the titles as they normally are written. For book and article titles, capitalize only the first word of the title (and subtitle), proper nouns, and capitalized abbreviations or symbols (such as HIV-1 or pH).
